The Paragon

Passing through the Belmont Arch on the junction of what was then known as Frogmore Street, and Paragon Gut, was the site of a watch house, c.1585. Further along the Gut, the gardens on the right, now known as the Paragon Gardens, was the site of a battery of 18 pounder guns, the area was then known as "The Gunfort". Where the current location of Gunfort Mansion stands, there existed a guard house.
