Site of the Carmarthen Gate

	The original Gate was a four turret construction with two gates leading into what is now the High Street. The Carmarthen Gate or North Gate as it is alternatively known, was damaged during an attack by Parlimentary troops in 1644 and was eventually demolished in the 18th Century to give easier access into the town.
